Paul Ma

Director of Design

Paul has over 35 years of professional experience in planning and designing hotels and resort destination projects, beginning his career in the Hawaiian islands in the 1980’s, where he became a Design Partner with Media Five Ltd and then Director of Design for Hemmeter Design Group. In the 1990’s he founded Paul Ma design/Projects International, designing recreational facilities throughout the world including the Royal Pacific Resort convention hotel at Universal Studios Orlando, Florida; Ikspiari, a mixed-use retail, dining and entertainment facility at Tokyo Disney Resort, Japan; the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and in Thailand the Central Samui Beach Resort, Thai Country Club and Yacht Haven Phuket Resort expansion. Paul relocated his practice in 2001 to Perth, Western Australia.

His strategic masterplans integrate sustainability into leisure tourism developments, combining extraordinary assets of Land and people with transformative protocols and innovative Community and Sustainability strategies ensuring their meaningful contribution to, and participation in, the commerce of Hospitality in infrastructure, projects and business enterprises while significantly reducing ongoing utility, transportation and maintenance costs. Paul is designing a mixed-use high-rise in Central Jakarta scheduled to be a Hard Rock Hotel with office and retail, and masterplanning for MNC Group the first Trump-branded six-star integrated resort and residential development in Asia, located adjacent to Tanah Lot in southwestern Bali. Paul graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture with Honors.
